Can Bisquerra: our Mallorcan ensaimadas, acknowledged as being among the best in the world

We are very proud that our ensaimadas have been acknowledged as being among the best in the world. Can Bisquerra was among the final ten bakeries in the First World Championship of Ensaimadas which was held on March 1st,, Balearic Islands Day. The finalists, out of a total of 30 bakeries, had to pass a tasting test.

The final took place in the Parc de la Mar on March 1st before a jury composed of three experts from the Association of Bakers and Pastry chefs of the Balearic Islands, an expert appointed by Hijos de Ramon Oliver and the gastronomy gurus Marta Simonet, Fabian Leon (Masterchef) and Manu Catman. Among the finalists there were bakeries from Mallorca, Menorca and even from Barcelona.

The First World Championship of Ensaimadas was the idea of the Flour Distribution Company “Hijos de Ramon Oliver” on occasion of their 100 years anniversary with the support of organizations such as the Balearic Government and the Association of Bakers and Pastry chefs of the Balearic Islands.
